The Loop & Weft Loopwheeled Double Binder Crewneck T-Shirt is knit in Wakayama, Japan on rare tsuriami loopwheel machines — vintage circular knitting equipment introduced to Japan in the early 1900s, with only around 200 machines still in operation across the region today. Each machine runs at approximately one-twentieth the speed of modern high-speed knitting equipment, producing fabric so slowly that only experienced craftsmen with more than 20 years of expertise can operate them properly.
The unique mechanical structure of these machines applies no tension to the yarn during knitting, allowing the cotton's natural softness to remain fully intact while the fabric is knit at higher density. The result is a heavyweight tsuriami cotton jersey with superior hand feel, density, elasticity, durability, and character compared to any fabric produced on modern machines. Knit with thick-count cotton yarn, the cloth has a substantial weight, a smooth vintage touch, and the kind of natural aging character that only improves with wear.
The silhouette draws directly from 1960s classic T-shirts — a refined crewneck with quiet, considered detailing. The standout feature is the vintage-style double-binder collar: a rib-knit collar sewn twice using a 2-needle binder machine for exceptional durability and long-term shape retention. Construction is finished with expert 4-needle flat seam stitching (via Union Special 36200 machines) and narrow 2-needle seams — reducing seam bulk for exceptional comfort and clean stitchwork throughout.
The T-shirt has been one-washed and is cut in a regular unisex fit — with generous room through the body and sleeves for easy layering, worn on its own or as a refined base layer.
Fit Notes: This T-shirt runs small. Compared to most global American brands, we recommend sizing up one from your usual size for a comfortable fit. As always, we strongly recommend checking our size chart and comparing it with your best-fitting T-shirt to ensure the right fit.
