The Japan Blue JMJE1200 belongs to the brand's new selvedge lineup — a considered continuation of Japan Blue's recent rebranding, which brings the label's focus firmly to clean, minimal design where every detail is stripped back so the fit and the indigo can take center stage.
The fabric is an original 12oz sanforized selvedge denim that combines an authentic, classic appearance with a surprisingly lightweight feel and soft, comfortable hand. Woven at Japan Blue's own mill in Kojima, Okayama, the cloth carries the honest character of traditional selvedge production alongside the refined touch that defines the brand today. The warp threads are dyed with pure indigo, developing a remarkably faithful, natural blue tone as the denim gradually fades over time.
The silhouette is a slim straight fit — cut with a slightly lower rise and a subtle taper that follows the natural line of the leg. Faithful to the straight lines inherent in selvedge denim, the model develops a naturally streamlined shape — offering the timeless feel of a classic five-pocket jean with a clean, contemporary edge that pairs seamlessly with both casual and refined styling.
Construction details are kept intentionally minimalist to preserve the clean visual identity: a UNIVERSAL Japan® metal zipper fly, copper male rivets, a blue cowhide leather patch, and a distinctive blue selvedge ID that quietly signals the new-line origins.
Fit Notes: This model runs slightly large, and is only produced in even-numbered sizes. Compared to most global American brands, we recommend sizing down one from your usual size for the intended fit. The denim is sanforized and has been one-washed, so no further shrinkage is expected. With regular wear, the waistband will stretch slightly, allowing the fit to settle comfortably over time. If you fall between two sizes, we recommend sizing down. As always, we strongly recommend checking our size chart and comparing it with your best-fitting pair to find the perfect size.
