Fish are one of the oldest Christian symbols. Many of Jesus’ first disciples—like Peter the Apostle, Andrew the Apostle, James the Apostle, and John the Apostle—were literal fishermen before becoming followers of Christ. When Jesus called them, He transformed their profession into a spiritual mission. Instead of gathering fish, they would gather people into the kingdom of God.
