Encanto Cream Enameled Heart Picture Frame by Beatriz Ball

A classic heart-shaped opening gives this little Encanto frame its affectionate character. Cream enamel and a gold-tone rim soften the aluminum-alloy form, making a small photograph part of a decorative object. The overall six-inch size is suited to a desk, dresser or bedside where the picture can be seen comfortably at close range.

“A heart frame works best for me when the photograph is simple and personal. A candid expression, placed clearly within the shaped opening, can say far more than a formal picture chosen only because its colors match the room.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Maker / Heritage

Cuban-born designer Beatriz Ball began working with metal artisans outside Mexico City in 1991. Her signature metalware is still made one piece at a time in the brand’s own foundry in Mexico: sand casting gives the forms their character, and successive hand-polishing stages bring out the alloy’s silvery luster. More than twelve pairs of hands take part in the making. The appeal is that combination of expressive shape and useful purpose, with the warmth of handwork and none of silver’s routine tarnish polishing.

In the frames, the same attention to a shaped edge gives a personal photograph a considered setting. The metal surround is decorative in its own right without needing to dominate the image.
